My Story
I’m Dale Matthews, born in Hastings in 1990. I spent over a decade working as an engineer, but it wasn’t until 2024 that I fully embraced being an artist. What began as a way to unwind during the pandemic quickly became something much more meaningful—a way to reimagine the world and how we see it.
One painting changed everything. It opened doors I never expected, first into television as a prop assistant, where I worked with people like Ant and Dec and Leigh Gill, then into fine art consultancy, connecting collectors with work by cultural icons such as Andy Warhol, Bob Dylan and Johnny Depp.
Now, my work is personal. I paint to spark emotion and conversation, and to help people connect with something deeper. My biggest inspiration comes from everyday moments we often overlook—and from my son. Becoming a father at 21 completely changed my perspective. He’s the reason I do this.
